So I decided to create a documentation that would explain how upkg works (not a simple wiki page that says how to use upkg but an article that explains what happens when you ask upkg to install or remove)

I think that this can help upkg users (mainly paldo) to understand how upkg works and so it can help people creating xmlspecs or fixing, common simple problems.

The article itself has a total of 10 pages, and it is not yet translated for any language other then english. I need help to fix ortographic/gramatical errors, and to start translating.

If the later the developers approve such thing, I can transform it on a html page and then create a package that will install and create an entry on the gnome menus so users that want to read these documentations can go to the menu and open this without the need for a network connection.

I'm approaching to this way instead of the wiki, because the wiki has an intention of being a more objective text. Well, we can all agree that a text sized as 10 pages is not fittable for wiki .

The openoffice file of the text is at: http://files.myopera.com/diogourb/paldo/Inside%20Upkg.odt and the final pdf is: http://files.myopera.com/diogourb/paldo/Inside%20Upkg.pdf

The text explains most of the things I know about upkg, but not all the things that exist to talk about .

Please if you have a correction to make use this post and I'll correct it.
Translations will be very welcome. And critcis as well.

ok, I'm not a Paldo developer, I'm a noob. As a noob, you're project is approved by me.

Regarding translations, as soon as the text becomes a package, I'll start translating it, as I proposed above.

I just hope your idea and your work will not die in forgetness.

Hi zerobug,

Thanks for your support, once I get finished, I'm make it into a package somewhere.

I'll be willing for your pt_PT translation, as even though I'll be writing later the translations for pt_BR (my language), I don't think I can write pt_PT as well :P .

My next idea is a text that can describe how the boot works, including aspects such as how the init scripts at /etc/init.d folder are written.

Oi Diogo

That's right. I've been at a few pt br forums and noticed that people there do appreciate better the brasilian portuguese. And vice-versa. Although all the orthographic conventions, things will take some time to be equally perceived.

After the last few posts at "a crazy biased review of Paldo" I assume we all agree that Paldo needs to become more user friendly, and the best way to achieve that is by means of improving its documentation. Right?

This is not a developers project, it's a users one, cooperation is needed and all ideas are welcome.

So, lets go ahead documenting Paldo. That will allow the actual and the future users to benefit the most from one of the best Linux O/S projects.
