I downloaded live cd stable-2009-08-19-1449.iso. Checksum is good. So far I have run this on three machines. Two are no-name desktop PCs with 64MB nv video cards from 2001/2 era, the last a ThinkPad R51 with Intel grfx, 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device. Live CD boots on all 3, the good news. The rather bad news is that when I try to run OpenOffice writer and calc, the system seems to get as far as running soffice.bin, then hangs. The gui freezes, and attempts to switch to an alternative text console fail. I think the mouse cursor still moves, but clicks go nowhere. Anyone else encountered this? I never had any similar problems with paldo previously using the live cd versions. I found no problem with any other application. Display of processes in top appears to freeze as gui becomes inoperable. All machines are known to be capable of running OO. So ???

Seems there is nobody out there? Oh well, looks like paldo has to go in the Joke Distro box.

This is an upstream bug in unionfs as used on the Live CD. We'll test and apply a possible fix for this as soon as possible. OpenOffice does work fine on an installed system, though, it's purely an issue with the filesystem used on the Live CD.

This should be fixed with the next kernel builds, which are expected to be available on the live CDs tomorrow.

Hi there, just looked back here after some time and saw your answer. So the current downloads should no longer have this problem?

I withdraw my rude remarks, guess it just seemed that nobody cared :-(

Thanks for confirming the problem has been fixed. I recently struck something similar in Scentlinux, so wanted to confirm the problem no longer existed in paldo, as Scent is derived from paldo I believe.
