0.9.5 problems, it causes fullscreen off and on between videos
on playlist... i need to play one video signal with no stops and picture
flashing...

if I install vlc using upkg-install vlc, it installs vlc 0.9.5

i tried do compile 0.8.6, it works fine, but crontab doesnt want to
run from cron table ((

this is serious problem for me... please help, i need to solve this as soon as possible

so you've the problem that vlc 0.9 series went of from fullscreen, but works with your cron scripts. Here you have all 0.8.6i builds:

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
[amnon@buildd3:/paldo-x86/var/log]$ ls /srv/paldo/binaries/vlc*0.8.6i*

http://www.paldo.org/paldo/binaries/vlc-x86_64-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.8.6i-1-stable.tar.bz2
http://www.paldo.org/paldo/binaries/vlc-x86_64-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.8.6i-1-testing.tar.bz2
http://www.paldo.org/paldo/binaries/vlc-x86-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.8.6i-1-stable.tar.bz2
http://www.paldo.org/paldo/binaries/vlc-x86-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.8.6i-1-testing.tar.bz2

did you tried the last build?

http://www.paldo.org/paldo/binaries/vlc-x86_64-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.9.8a-1-testing.tar.bz2
http://www.paldo.org/paldo/binaries/vlc-x86-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.9.8a-1-testing.tar.bz2

How to install:

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
tar -Pxjf /PATH/TO/THE/TARBALL.tar.bz2 -C /

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
tar -Pxjf /PATH/TO/THE/TARBALL.tar.bz2 -C /

... is the code we are using with upkg.

Example:

if you downloaded it to your desktop

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
sudo tar -Pxjf ~/Desktop/vlc-x86-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-0.8.6i-1-testing.tar.bz2 -C /

so in simple ways:

  • download the tarball you like
  • extract the content of the tarball with root rights into the root folder (/)
  • package is installed

    Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
vlc -I dummy ... rest of your cmds ...

Use the dummy interface, its cronable. Might want to redirect output to a file instead of having cron mail it to you, especially if you use the -v argument

Here is how to schedule a TV recording with VLC and cron. Enter this in crontab -e:

    Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
    # m h dom mon dow command
    45 18 11 10 * vlc -I http "rtsp://mafreebox.freebox.fr/fbxtv_pub/stream?namespace=1&service=295" --sout file/ts://$HOME/tv-france3.mpg >& $HOME/vlc.log

-I http is needed do not start any GUI. We are running VLC in a cron job so there is neither X11 display nor TTY. --sout file tells vlc to write the video to a file.

hi peter, as you're online now so I can tell you some about the live-cd I did for you. It might be the installer itself blocking the install of it.
We never designed it for having the user-folder already existing. So if you use the username vychod it might block at creating the folder. Try to use a different username during test-install on a hdd and tell me if it get installed.

If somebody else will try the livecd out it is still here for download:

ok, seems I've to recheck the installer-source. Did anybody ever tried to install paldo with the username paldo from a original iso? I'll do this some time later when I've more time. Here the error messages I got:

seems the installed etc/group-file still got some stuff from the livecd-user on it...

using a different user-name should fix the problem installing this iso-image.

I did another live-cd and got the same error. seems something went wrong with the paldo-live.xml and the installer.
