Paldo was on tour in erding, bavaria, germany.
I did the promotion myself. We got 15 people at the place, all of them linux-geeks. Seems I was almost the only one with less education in linux things, so lots of insider-questions happened.

Upkg was the most criticed point. We should look more into portage. It is not possible to black-list some packages or keep old version-numbers which are working atm. That we don't have a graphical gui for the packagemanager didn't matter at all. Better features for the packagemanager are more important than fancy guis.

A search-function to find the bin executables of a program and which package you've to install for it is missed. Also a local index-file for all available packages in the repository. The package manager you can only use if you've a internet connection. You can't freeze or blacklist packages. Such stuff is needed by a package manager, they told me.

Also it was asked how many people are the devs what what they do for a living.
I told them students and freetime-linuxdevs. They where afraid that paldo ends with the ending of the studies. Well do we exist after you guys finished school? Are there some plannings to keep paldo alive?

In the sum they liked paldo and the way we do the distribution. One tool for one thing to do. I hope we will have upkg alot better in the future.

What do you still miss from paldo?

I've finished my studies a bit more than a month ago and for the foreseeable future I will remain user and developer of paldo.
