Hi guys,

I'm new to Paldo and I really like your the approach of 'simplicity'. Keep up the good work!

Now my problem is, that when I try to build some packages like
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
upkg-build --disable-binary --verbose thunderbird

after a while 'make' aborts with the message
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
*** ERROR: thunderbird-x86-glibc-2.8-gcc-4.3-1-2.0.0.16-1

Same error with other packages like gnome-games. I installed Paldo a few days ago on my Laptop and so far everything is working smooth (except for the sound, but thats not that important at the moment). upkg-upgrade says the system is up-to-date.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

We need to see a few more lines than just the last ERROR line to be able to understand what the issue is.

BTW: What's the reason you're building from source instead of just installing the binary packages?

I build from source, because my laptop is not 'the latest stuff', and this way I hope to increase performance and uptime when running on battery.
Another reason is, just because it's posible No serious, I'm just a little tired of the standard binary-distros like SuSE, Mandriva, Ubuntu, you-name-it, and want to try something new

the binary-package was build some time ago. Now we changed some libs and other stuff. Maybe now thunderbird can't be build but the binary still runs. In a next rls of thunderbird it might be fixed.

Don't know if this is of any help: I get the nearly exact same error message when building gnome-games:
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
In file included from /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdkcolor.h:31In file included from /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdkcolor.h:31,

from /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gtk/gtk.h:31,
from chat.c:35:
/usr/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdktypes.h:51:23: error: gdkconfig.h: No such file or directory
from /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdkcairo.h:23,
from /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdk.h:30,
from /usr/include/gtk-2.0/gtk/gtk.h:31,
from about.c:37:
/usr/include/gtk-2.0/gdk/gdktypes.h:51:23: error: gdkconfig.h: No such file or directory

So to me it looks like some changes in Gtk+ /Gdk prevent the packages from building.

Have you also built gtk+-2.0 from source?

A simple rebuild on your system doesn't increase performance, the paldo binary packages are already quite optimized.

Yes.

I know, that a simple rebuild isn't as efficent as if you could set compilerflags like in Gentoo (are there any plans in that direction for future upkg-releases?). But as I said, I like to try things out just to see if and how it works.

Reinstall gtk from binaries and try whether this fixes the issues. We don't recommend to rebuild packages from source, various issues may occur.

upkg-reinstall gtk+-2.0
