I'm a beginner here. I came from debian etch distro. thus, I'd like to ask you if I can install paldo into a brazilian portuguese version by using a abnt2 keyboard? Do you use kde or gdm or both options?or neither of them? does it recognize a nvidia geforce video card? does it have already a pre
installed sun java plugin in it?I'd appreciate your helpfull hints.does it have an auto updating software like synaptic or something else?
how do I use the terminal here? Is it like "sudo apt-get install something" ? sorry for too many questions for a newcomer.best regards. |

- For the keyboard and language you can choose direct in the boot menu.
NVidia gets recognized during boot-up and our scripts using nv-xdriver or nvidia-glx for it.
- Our display manager is gdm, cos we are a gnome distro. You can install also kde or xfce. I added the packages to the distro.
- Java is not installed as default, but you can install it during live-mode or afterwards.
- Atm we don't have an autoupdate software. You're the man. A "sudo upkg-upgrade" in a terminal updates your whole system.
- So we are now by your last question. How do you install stuff here. Our package manager is our own development. Related to apt-get but easier. We are using binary and source packages. Even an own repository you can add to your system.
Read the wiki for this:

Simple cmd for installing java:
For finding the name of the packages use our website tool for it:
Paldo Package Search

The Xorg seem to find uncorrectly the key for ?/ on the ABNT2 BR Layout keyboard... I added a page on the wiki in portuguese since the concern of this problem will be only for portuguese speakers since this is a brazillian keyboard so that people can do a workaround...
here is the page: http://www.paldo.org/wiki/ABNT2_Layout
Amnon sorry for the first response on portuguese... already fixing it my bad...
Why Paldo? = Because Linux should be Linux... shouldn't it? .............................. OSs: Paldo-testing x86_64 :: HP Pavilion dv9680ez |
