I have a LITE-ON DVD Player but when I pop a DVD Video or CD Audio disk in, (Data CDs seem to work fine. the LED just blinks and the DVD Spins, it doesn't mount, and if I try to open it with SMPlayer/VLC/ or Totem player it doesn't play, it says something along the lines of. "Unable to open dvd://dev/sr0 I've tryed changing the path, but it seems that when I tell it to open, the drive spins, so I think the path works fine. I also installed libdvdcss and many other packages, can someone please help me, I just want to watch Stargate!!! thank you.

I also tryed to mount the drive manually, but it just says No medium found.

Have you tried the same disc on another computer / OS? Maybe it's scratched, dirty or burned improperly? Also if you're planning on cleaning the disc, clean it from the inside towards the outside, NEVER in round movements.

For DVDs it is best to install xine-ui via
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
sudo upkg-install xine-ui
and the needed lib you spoke of. SMPlayer is also good, but can't play the menues well.
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
sudo upkg-install smplayer

Does every disc you put in the drive can't be read? Try out to start a dvd via the console:

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
xine --verbose dvd://PATH/TO/THE/DRIVE

and tell us what happend.
