In your distribution Firefox's font smoothing (anti aliasing) settings are different from GNOME's settings. So changing settings (hinting style for example) won't affect Firefox.
How could I make Firefox use GNOME's settings?
Thanks

Unfortunately, Firefox doesn't use GNOME's font rendering library by default. You can try to start Firefox with the environment variable MOZ_ENABLE_PANGO=1, that's untested, though.
