Moderator Linux-Dude Posts: 1187 Registered: 2006-11-23 | Juerg released today the new installer on the unstable live cd. This thread is for getting the bugs and your wishes for the installer. Post everything here we should do with the installer. The installer should be simple and easy to use. So feel free to tell us what you think about the new way of the installer.

Features of version 0.1.0
- language selection
- time settings
- separate Home and Boot partition (optional)
- set root password
- set host name
- add one user account
- install progress with progressbar
ToDo List
- fix formating issue (patch by Juerg)
- sane error handling
- disable back button when installation has finished
- add swap partition to menu.lst (resume=@SWAP@) (patch by Phil Amnon82)
- add beryl needed settings to xorg.conf (for supported drivers)
- add menu.lst entries for already installed paldo systems (x86/x86_64)
- add menu.lst entries for windows if appropriate
- add restart button
- add more than one user-account to the system
- add translations
- support network installation (upkg-bootstrap-like - long-term)
- support for updating existing paldo system (long-term)

Junior Mitglied Posts: 4 Registered: 2007-07-10 | I think that is better to support Compiz than Beryl. Compiz is more stable and easier to configure, and is the future. Beryl is more experimental. |
