booting CD does not load the kernel | |
|

Junior Mitglied Posts: 2 Registered: 2007-03-23 | Booting with any CD (install stable or testing, or LiveCD) does not load the kernel. I get acces to the Grub console but from there I can not see the CD to load the kernel, just the fd devices and my hd0 device. I'm trying to load it on a Laptop Fujistu Siemens C1020.
Did someone experience this problem before? |

the ISO-images. The kernel won't boot. This is not
good.
When you want, you can try my early Installer-LiveCDs.
You can find them here:
Download der Installer-LiveCd
It is based on GParted-LiveCD for starting up the Installer.
I'll will change this tonight and a new image gets
uploaded. Can you tell us exactly what happend on your
screen? Some error-message might be usefull. |

There was no error on the screen, grub got loaded but it didn't load the kernel and there was no way to accesss the cd to load it...it's the first time I encounter this problem... |

I am dropped off onto a grub> terminal with a few commands. I got the same behaviour on my newish Thinkpad with an external DVD drive and my desktop with a new internal DVD-RW drive.
Could the iso be corrupted? I did burn it at 4x and Nero verified it alright.
Any ideas on how to proceed from here? Thanks.. |

It should be 029a86b7f87e33dc04bff1539120730a for paldo-live-cd-x86-stable-2007-11-05-0416-GTM.iso |

Ahh! Seems I'll have to spend 3 more days downloading another ISO
Also..could you put the md5 next to the download link? That way I won't have to bug you again.
Thanks juerg!

Administrator Posts: 426 Registered: 2004-09-09 | I've added the MD5 checksum of paldo x86 stable to the download page, checksums for the other downloads will be added on the next build.
Make sure that you download the checksum now resp. when you start the ISO download, as the ISO and the checksum might get updated while you're downloading it.
BTW: The server should have enough bandwidth again, so in case it was a server issue that your ISO download took that long, it should be a lot faster now. |

Nah..it's my "broadband" connection. I've heard good things about Paldo..looking forward to give it a spin.

Junior Mitglied Posts: 1 Registered: 2007-11-21 | Hi,
i also experienced the same problem as above. I boot on stable version cd (2007-11-xx) but when it come to grub, it stop and I'm left with grub> command line. I don't see any error it just don't load kernel. I don't see how I can load the kernel.
I am using a laptop ( toshiba tecra s1 ) and I checked md5 checksum on the second iso I downloaded. The first iso I've downloaded (and burned) did the same thing.
I tried everything, pressed enter, used the kernel, help and other commands but I can't see how to load the kernel.
