I followed the tutorial in the wiki and wanted to look if it works so i made a repo and addet it to /etc/upkg.conf.

I saw that pygame is not in the repositories (maybe somebody should add it) and I made this xml file:
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
  <?xml version="1.0"?>
<package name="pygame">
<description>python module</description>
<releases>
<release version="1.9.1" revision="1" branch="testing">
<deps>
<dep name="SDL"/>
<dep name="SDL_ttf"/>
<dep name="SDL_mixer"/>
<dep name="SDL_image"/>
</deps>
<build>
<script>
<archive name="pygame-$VERSION">
<cmd>./configure --prefix=/usr --infodir=/usr/share/info --mandir=/usr/share/man --sysconfdir=/etc</cmd>
<cmd>make -j 2</cmd>
<cmd>make install</cmd>
</archive>
</script>
</build>
</release>
</releases>
</package>

And than i got this error message:
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
[root@philippelaptop:/home/philippe]# upkg-build pygame
Generating script...

Hi Dunek,

Since the error is saying there is something wrong on line 1, position 24 and the first line has only 22 characters, then I think it might be some extra spaces either on the end of line 1, after <?xml version="1.0"?> , or it can be spaces before the line 2 on the statement <package name="pygame">. The beginning of the file should be simply

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<package name="pygame">

They both should start at the same tab and no spaces outside the < > statement should be encountered (This is a problem with xml syntax which implies that the character "space" is a rule that upkg is not understanding)

I had some spaces in the first 2 lines.
But now it says that my system is already up to date-
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
[root@philippelaptop:/home/philippe]# upkg-build pygame
Generating script...
Writing script...
Executing script...
System already up-to-date.

[root@philippelaptop:/home/philippe/paldorepo]# upkg-build --verbose pygame
Generating script...

Has there anything to be in the /var/cach/upkg/your_home_directory folder?

Dunek,

Please post here your /etc/upkg.conf . Also, removing the cache file doesn't seem that it is going to fix the problem

Also forgot to say...

On your repository the file of the spec should be on the spec folder with the name pygame.xml otherwise upkg won't find it

The problem seems that upkg is not finding the xml spec to proccess the informations

No in this case I would get an error message like this:
Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
[root@philippelaptop:/home/philippe/Desktop]# upkg-build nothing
Generating script...
ERROR: Package 'nothing' not found.
Could not generate script!
[root@philippelaptop:/home/philippe/Desktop]#

Dunek,

The first problem means that pygame was already installed, if it is not then here is the real problem.

When you remove the official repository, upkg reads the spec and then tries to get the other specs from the network but since you disabled the repository you get an error of a problem of lack of dependencies in the repository, which is your second error.

Now since pygame seems installed from upkg even if it is not try to force removing pygame with

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
upkg-remove --force pygame

And then try to build it again.

I tried this already^^.
Is it possible that I messed up some upkg configurations?
