Ammon82,
WOW, lots of activity!

We actually don't use the 64bit version of Paldo aldough some computers are capable of running it. Maybe down the road I switch to a 64but OS if Houdini or Softimage XSI run as well as they do in the 32 bit version ... will see.

As for now, thanks for removing the latest blender build and hopefully in a few days, all will be well again :)

blender 64bit wasn't broken only another package blocked x86_64 arch cos it had flash_player9 as dep which is not available in 64bit yet. so not only my packages won't got build in that arch. well I didn't commit the package. as maintainer you've to look also on other maintainers. everybody has to test their packages first I suppose, but not everybody does. but I found it. it was only a small activity in the maintainer world. the svn log shows it all. everybody makes mistakes sometimes. glad that the last blender build was ok for you. svn is working or has problems. you never know before ...

A new version of blender is out:

http://paldo.org/paldo/sources/blender/blender-2.48a-svn-r17688.changelog

Seems they slowing down with the development. Might be a new stable in the start.

How to install it in testing:

Code[In neuem Fenster öffnen]
sudo upkg-install --force --branch=unstable blender

... this will install the unstable blender package to testing temporally.
Since vga-studio has last time troubles with a new feature in r17624 I started to commit the newest blender to unstable until seanix give me the go to put it to testing branch. An upkg-upgrade will install the latest testing blender so use unstable branch if you want to keep it or don't upkg-upgrade during your test sessions ...

Amnon82,
as always, thank you for updating blender as well as providing the info log.
This latest svn build works fine but for some reason, the layers buttons don't show a hint if a layer contains data or now. How ever, this is not a big deal.

Ever since downloading Houdini, I have hardly spent time working with blender because Houdini is an amazing app and so much more powerful that it makes me regret not investing in this tool sooner.
Sidefx (www.sidefx.com) has done an amazing job with this app and it is no wonder that every major movie used Houdini for the special FX. I'm excited for what lies ahead and not to forget, blender will get a face lift sometime next year too.

We appreciate your effort and investment of time in compiling and uploading the latest build :-)

Thank you!

so we're sticking a little in unstable with the latest build of blender. hope it is fixed soon. Houdini seems to be a nice program. I'll think about generating a install script for paldo when I've time.

Amnon,82,
first of all, thank you for your blender builds, they are appreciated!

As you probably just read, I'm experiencing serious issues with paldo. Even a new install acts weird. I run "testing" (as you know) and keep the machine up-to-date on a daylie basis.
Last night, while writing a response to thank you, the x server crashed on me. That happened a second time yesterday and just now, after a brand new install it just crashed again.
This seams to happen when I write forum posts or feedback on web pages.

I have no idea what could cause that?

The only thing I have done lately is installing houdini ... that's it.

Anyway, I'm sure that there is a solution to this. This machine an the laptop are the only computers that can access the net so I'm not too worried for the moment.

Ciao for now :-)

If you have time tomorrow (Sunday) we could chat a bit?

maybe it is the nvidia beta driver I commited to testing, but it was a while ago.
I'm daily online with paldo and don't have any problems with it. can't rebuild your problem. I don't think houdini has anything to do with it ...

[edit] updated to 180.11 in testing. might fix the issue I suppose.

Amnon,
just a quick post to tell you that the latest blender build is amazing. I have rendered out an animation last night and experienced no crashes!

I will deploy the build tomorrow and use it for all new projects for this coming week.

Sorry that I missed you today on irc but i forgot that i left that app on ... getting old! LOL

Have a great week :-)

Not so much is changed. I'll update today to the latest svn checkout.
Some new features are added. Seems to be useable again.
